I visited The Kitchen while I was housesitting for my brother in Falmouth last month and I'm in love! The Kitchen is the kind of place we all hope we had in our local town or neighborhood: it's cosy, it's retro, the staff are friendly, the food is fresh, the prices are affordable, it's not too big, not too small, it was just right. To be honest, when I spotted The Kitchen from the street, my initial thought was that it was going to be a slightly pretentious, hipster hangout where you are served decomposed cappuccinos and avocado on everything. But this impression faded as I stepped inside; first of all, there were a couple elderly ladies seated for lunch who seemed to be frequent customers and soon afterwards a mother sat at one of the outdoor tables with her two children - this place obviously catered to a wide range of people which was refreshing. And when I got my plate (pan-fried fish with many, many veggies) there was certainly nothing decomosed about it. It was a beautiful dish, the chef obviously took pride in pleasure in plating it. Not only did it look colourful but it tasted incredible too. But to top all of this, I then learned that at The Kitchen, not only are 100% of their ingredients from the UK, but actually 90% of their produce is locally sourced in Cornwall. Amazing! I most definitely recommend to anyone in Falmouth to eat there and I also strongly believe that many restaurators can take example from this great place. They have shown that it is possible to have the best of everything : local produces, affordable meals, great atmosphere and open to all. written on : 05/2018
